This red asphalt (red gravelpave) driveway in Kalamunda had a new limestone block retaining wall installed, leaving one section as bare patch which the owner wanted ramped down to the patio area, creating a smooth join with the driveway. We evened out the gradient before laying new red asphalt in the gap, tying in flush on both side - with the existing driveway and the concrete patio. The new patch looks black, however it will lighten to the familiar red colour over time, as the oxide in the red asphalt reacts with sunlight. Location: Kalamunda, Perth hills
