Below are before, during and after photos of the construction of a red asphalt and part driveway in the Perth Hills suburb of Hovea.
The existing hardstand surface was scraped clean and scarified to allow for a new layer of gravel/ferricrete.
The surface was heavily watered down, levelled, compacted and waterbound.
Once the surface was dry the following day the area was tacked with a bitumen emulsion and sealed with a 25mm thick layer of 7mm laterite hotmix/asphalt with 1% oxide.
The area was then cooled down with water to allow for immediate use.
After these photos were taken the area was sprinkled with sand to avoid any possible scuffing while the asphalt is fresh.
